I don't blame them for protesting. Given the pervasive corruption in Nigeria, it is doubtful that any toll collected will be used for its intended purpose. Instead of using the oil money to better the lives of the masses, the government and their designees wish to tax cash-strapped citizens.
Before imposing a toll, the government and their designees need to account for the people's money and put the likes of bagangida and abacha families on trial for embezzling billions of the people's money. Nigeria is lacking in a comprehensive road network, health system, security, and other basic services that a country should have in 2010.
