Victoria Ordu and Favour Amadi (pictured above), have been in hiding for more than a year and took refuge in four different city churches hoping that the Canadian authorities will forgive them...but that didn't happen. The authorities refused to budge and the girls had no choice but to return to Nigeria. They left Saskatchewan yesterday Friday Oct 18th. They were scheduled to get on a plane to Nigeria last night, so they should be here by now..
According to the BBC, the University of Regina President, Vianne Timmons, was at the airport to say good-bye to the ladies. Timmons said the girls left voluntarily in the hope that doing so would allow them to return to Canada later. The University is vowing to help the students come back.

Nothing like a honest mistake, I am a Nigerian living in the Uk who had just completed her studies. First thing any student will see on a visa is the student work limit and limitation of that visa just like mine had. These two girls knew the right thing to do and chose to act opposite under the pretence of not knowing, moreso, ignorance is not an excuse. Just like Nigerian students do in the Uk, they work full time with a student visa that is limited to 20hours of work a week. such people when they are caught, feint ignorance and 'honest mistate'....Nigerian government should be left out of this, its got nothing to do with the colour of passport, green, red, blue....its not the issue, you cannot cut corners when it comes to the law outside of Nigeria. These two girls should own up to their greedy need to work and earn more money at the expense of their education...

These beauties didn't deserve to be deported. I felt especially sad for the one who had one year left to complete her studies. All the school did was to 'monkey' around with the media rather than fight for their plight. Their decision to go home was testament to the resilience and courage of these brilliant students. To Favour and Victoria, you have made your country and your families proud.
Goodness me! How on earth did Nigeria High Commission in Canada let this happen? When will Nigeria ever protect the lives, welfare and interest of her citizens. Really these girls could have been pardoned if much was done. Am marvelled at the way other nationals get away with some unpardonable crimes they may have committed while living as an immigrants because they have people who could speak for them in situation like this. They should have come home much earlier. This is a case of non-compliance which should be wiped off the immigration system after 6 months of returning back to the home country. The girls should just request for their transcripts, finish off their education in one of the private Universities in Nigeria, go for National youth service and then apply again for a study permit to Canada for a Masters degree-if by then they still want to go back to Canada. I don't think they would have any issues then. Canadian immigration authorities have their rules and they certainly wont be punished forever. They didn't commit a criminal offence. They still have a very good chance of going back to study in Canada since they left voluntarily. Besides, all things do work together for good. There may be something for them back in Nigeria that will do them good in the future. Life has its twists and curves and a bend in the road is not the end of the road. I wish them good luck.

Real eyahh. Irony of life. Only days ago the story of that poor boy that died from a hit and run in Cyprus was aired by the aggrieved parents who seek justice. And the school where he paid as an international student couldn't as much as fight his course. Rather, they stayed aloof. But here we have 2 young ladies who've had to be deported for something as silly as this. Me I will just say, be thankful still. That boy's parents would have paid a zillion dollars to have their son deported instead of having to die as he did. Need I say there's always hope for the living. Godspeed!
